Chuckles Collective started as a family idea — and quickly became something deeper. It’s a brand built on the belief that emotions deserve space, and that what you wear can help you remember who you are and who you’re becoming.
This is the story behind how it all began.
“Life wasn’t bad - but it wasn’t fully mine.”
The Rinse and Repeat Life
For a long time, life was a continuous rinse and repeat cycle. The typical Monday to Friday grind - working hard, being successful in my career, and mixing in some fun on the weekends.
But in the end, my job was always about helping the company succeed. I kept thinking… what would it look like to put that same effort into something that had a direct benefit to me and my life?
The Chapter That Changed Everything
It was frustrating working hard but not feeling like I was getting where I wanted to be.
I went through a rough divorce almost 15 years ago. For nearly four years, my kids lived in Florida with their mom while I lived in Arizona. I traveled every month to see them - expensive, exhausting, but I didn’t imagine doing anything else.
Eventually, I was successful in the courts and my kids relocated to live primarily with me. But I burned through my savings and much of my retirement to make it happen.
My kids are adults now… but financially, I still hadn’t recovered. And I kept thinking: how can I ever retire comfortably down the road? I knew grinding it out 9–5 would not be enough.

CharChar’s Shift
My sister CharChar’s story is just as important to this brand. She’s also been through chapters that required rebuilding - and yoga became the moment where everything began to change.
Yoga taught her how to slow down, how to breathe again, and how to find calm inside the chaos. That’s where this brand started to become more than “a clothing company.” It became a reminder.
The Spark
One day I saw something about the print on demand apparel model. Around the same time, my son had been buying thrift items and reselling them for extra money.
I talked to him about starting our own clothing company with a brand of our own. He immediately said he was in.
When I mentioned the idea to my sister, she asked if she could get involved. We’ve always been close, so I didn’t hesitate. Suddenly, it wasn’t just an idea - it felt real.
This is where is started.
Why “Chuckles Collective”
At first, naming the brand was hard. We started with a play on our family name and called it JAK Collective - JAK for Jacobs, and “Collective” because we wanted the brand to feel like community.
But when we checked name availability, it was already taken.
After a few hours of brainstorming, my sister said, “How about Chuckles Collective?”
She’s always called me Chuckles throughout life as a joke — but the moment she said it, it clicked. I ran it by my son, and he liked it too. It felt personal, real, and us.
How the Feel Clubs Were Born
We originally thought we’d just design graphic tees - nothing cohesive, just each of us creating our own stuff.
Then one day I thought: what if we created something simple? A single word design. I believe the first word was “smile.”
That’s when the concept expanded. CharChar came up with the idea for Feel Clubs - a way to make the words feel like a community and a mindset.
Then I had another thought: we need something more than a word to fully convey the feeling. That’s where the animals came in - symbols that represent the emotion in a way you can wear and instantly understand.
And suddenly… we realized we had a real brand.

Chuckles Collective is built on quality and intention. We chose premium products and embroidery because we want what you wear to last - physically and emotionally.
We want people to feel comfortable wearing what they feel, and not be shy about showing the world. Because whether you feel it now, are growing into it, or need the reminder… it matters.
